Coaching Models

This is one more resource we will be updating for you, so be sure to bookmark this page
and check back from time to time. Feel free to share the link to this page with your network.

We are conducting some research on the various coaching schools and the models they use, and will be reporting our
findings here. We distinguish between the Model the Coaching School embraces, and the assessment models
used by that School.

(What was that again, you ask? Good question.)

The BIG M is the Model a particular coaching school embraces.
For example, New Ventures West espouses ontological coaching, as does Julio Olalla/Newfield.
Syntax uses the Syntax Model.

We will be sharing here what these Models are and what they mean,
as well as how learning happens using each of them.

The assessment models used by each school will also be shared here.

For example, NVW teaches several assessment models to be used in ontological coaching, including
the Five Elements model,
Domains of Competence model,
Components of Satisfaction and Effectiveness Model,
and others.

These assessment models give us different perspectives from which to observe.

This is a brand new page, which we will update over time as we receive your contributions and feedback.

Subject: Re: [odnet-coach] RE: Favorite Coach Training Programs

HI Dwayne,

Thought I'd jump in here since I direct the program at Georgetown University
in D.C. -- our program trains coaches who want to work in an OD context,
coaching leaders and teams. Our faculty is diverse, many are trained through
Newfield and New Ventures, as well as other types of training - Center for
Authentic Leadership, Rancho Strozzi, NTL. We use an ontological approach as
well, and blend it with the likes of Argyris and other theorists in the OD
arena. So our program is grounded in holistic approaches that include mind,
body, feeling, and spirit; as well, we are grounded in learning theory
(double and triple loop), change theory, and systems models. We are
beginning our second year -- the first year was excellent, full of learning
and transformation for our students, and full of richness for the faculty.

Thanks for the invitation to give you this info!
